Function in honour of the Newly elected Mayor of Ryde

The Australian Armenian Chamber of Commerce held an event in honour of the newly elected City of Ryde Mayor, Clr Artin Etkmedjian and Lady Mayoress Mrs Nora Etmekdjian. Clr Etkmedjian was one of the founding members of the Armenian Chamber of Commerce in Australian in 1997 and to date serves on the Board of Directors.

The event took place at North Ryde RSL on Tuesday the 7th of October, 2011, approximately 150 invited guests attended to celebrate the newly elected Mayor. Among the official guests were Bennelong MP, John Alexander, Member for Ryde, Victor Dominello, Member for Willoughby, Gladys Berejiklian, Councillors Sarkis Yedelian, Ivan Petch and Roy Maggio, City of Ryde General Manager, John Neish, other chamber presidents that are under the banner of Ryde Business Forum, chamber members and local Business owners.

There were several speeches during the night however the one which stood and touched the Mayor most was the speech delivered by Armenian Chamber President Mrs Rita Lepedjian. Rita concluded her speech with 3 important points in life;

  1. A backbone:            To stand up for what you believe in.
  2. A Wishbone:           To hope for a brighter future.
  3. A funny bone:         Not to take life too seriously.

It was a night to remember!
